#163 RUSTSTOP OUTDOOR
RustStop Outdoor is a solvent cutback, non-staining barium free, water-displacing rust preventive that is specially formulated to provide long term external protection of ferrous, galvanized and non-ferrous metal parts and equipment stored outdoors. The heavy-duty protective residual soft rubbery film that is formed after evaporation of the solvent is highly resistant to high humidity, acidic and salt containing atmospheres, thus making the RustStop Outdoor particularly useful in long-term outdoor storage applications.
RustStop Outdoor can be applied to the metal surfaces by roller, brush, spray, or dip type methods. Once applied, RustStop Outdoor produces rubbery film that has excellent creep penetration. This heavy hard rubbery film which is approximately 1.6 mils in film thickness is highly resistant to moisture, acid fumes, salt spray and high humidity conditions.
RustStop Outdoor can be used to protect the external surfaces of chains, sprockets, oil field tools and parts, structural steel, farm machinery, threaded pipe and any other ferrous, galvanized and non-ferrous metal parts that might be exposed to the sun, water, acidic, salt spray or high humidity during long term storage.
In order for RustStop Outdoor to effectively prevent rusting and corrosion of metal surfaces that need to be protected, these surfaces must be free of any dirt, grease, oil, water or any other foreign material which can interfere with the contact between the metal and the protective film. Metal surfaces to be protected should be thoroughly cleaned before Rustop Outdoor is applied.
RustStop Outdoor should be kept in a tightly covered container when not in use. This will prevent product loss and hardening of the product in the container due to evaporation.
Rustop Outdoor meets and exceeds the following specifications: MIL-PRF-16173E Grade 4, and MIL-C-83933A.
